WILL of JEREMIAH CLAYPOOLE
12/10/1744, Probated 5/9/1745.

"In the name of God Amen. I, Jeremiah
Claypool of the County of Sussex, of Delaware, being sick and weak In the
body but In perfect mind and memory and knowing the uncertainty of Life do
Make this my last will and Testament and resign my soul to Almighty God who
gave it not doubting of salvation through the Merits and Mediation of Jesus
Christ, my body I order to be decently Interred by my Executrix hereafter
appointed, my estate both real and personal I order to be disposed of in
manner and form following, that is to say -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my son George, one Moiety of the plantation
whereon I now live. Joining south on the Broadkill, West with the land belong-
ing to the Estate of Edward Naws(Maws?), deceased, and East with Land belonging to
Anthony Haverlo, to him the said George Claypoole his heirs and assigns forever -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my son Jehu his heirs and assigns forever the
other Moiety of the aforesaid plantation to be equally divided between these
my sons George and Jehu aforesaid by and with a division line running through
the middle of said plantation or tract of land from South West to North East
and I do order that my son George shall have that part of my said land Joining
the Broadkill -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph my forrest plantation, to him
his heirs and assigns forever- -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my loving wife my horse called Shaver & a
Womans Saddle and Bridle -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Fowler the sum of Five Shillings-

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Comfort Conwell the sum of Five Shillings-

ITEM- I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Gum the sum of Five Shillings -

ITEM - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachel Conwell one negro boy named
James -

ITBM - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elisabeth one negro boy named Sambo,
and also the sum of five pounds to be paid to her my said daughter Elisabeth on
the day of her marriage or within a year after my decease -

ITEM - I do order that my funeral charges and all my Just debts shall be paid out
of my personal Estate and after the above Legacies and my debts aforesaid are
deducted and paid by my Executrix the remainder of my personal Estate to be
disposed of as followeth, viz; One equal third part thereof to my Loving wife.
One equal third part thereof to my son John, and one equal third part thereof
to the child that my wife is now big with -

ITEM - I do appoint my Loving wife Mary to be my sole Executrix of this my last
Will and Testament and do require my Friends John Conwell and John Clewes to
assist her in duly executing the same. In testimony whereof I have hereunto put
my hand and Seal this Tenth day of December Anno Dom 1744."

Sussex City Memorandum - "This Ninth day of May 1745 the within John Clowes,
Anthony Haverlo and John Wright the witnesses of the above Will subscribing
appeared before me Jacob Kollock Deputy Beg-appointed for the probate of Wills. . I
did declare that in their said presence and hearing the testator Jeremiah Clay-
poole did sign seal publish pronounce and declare the above written to be his last
Will and Testament. . ."    Test. Jacob Kollock.
